Glossary of Terms Used

ATP means an Authority to Prospect, granted under the Queensland Act, and permits the holder to explore for petroleum in Queensland. Limited amounts of production are permitted for testing purposes under section 73 of the Queensland Act

PEL means a Petroleum Exploration Licence, granted under the SA Act, which authorises the holder to carry out exploratory operations for regulated resources and operations to establish the nature and extent of a discovery and the feasibility of production. Limited amounts of production are permitted under section 27 of the SA Act.

PPL means a Petroleum Production Licence, granted under the SA Act, which authorises the holder to produce petroleum in the discovery area.

PRL means a Petroleum Retention Licence, granted under the SA Act, which provides an exploration licensee with security of title over currently non-commercial discoveries for a reasonable period of time until they become commercial.
